Brad Arnold, a co-founder and the lead singer of the popular American rock group 3 Doors Down, has passed away at the age of 47 after a battle with cancer. The sad news was confirmed by a spokesperson who stated that Arnold peacefully passed away while asleep, surrounded by his loved ones.
Initially, Arnold served as both the drummer and vocalist when he helped establish 3 Doors Down back in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi. He played a pivotal role in the band’s rise to fame, notably through his songwriting and production work on their breakthrough track in 2000, “Kryptonite,” a song he crafted at the young age of 15.
In May 2025, Arnold took to social media to share a heartfelt video message disclosing his diagnosis with Stage 4 kidney cancer that had metastasized to his lungs. In the emotional video, he openly discussed his health situation, revealing that doctors had identified clear cell renal cell carcinoma. Despite the severity of his illness, Arnold conveyed his unwavering faith and courage, albeit the band had to cancel their upcoming summer tour due to his health condition.
He humbly requested fans to keep him in their thoughts and prayers, drawing strength from the band’s song “It’s Not My Time” during this challenging period. Brad Arnold is survived by his wife, Jennifer.
