“US Watches Closely as China Purges Military Corruption”

Date:

The removal of a high-ranking general in China due to corruption has drawn close attention from the United States, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Speculations had circulated regarding the investigation preceding the announcement by President Xi Jinping, who has been leading an anti-corruption campaign.

Rubio highlighted a trend of military purges in China over recent years, indicating a crackdown on individuals misappropriating funds allocated for military expenditures. He emphasized that the Chinese government’s efforts to address internal issues within its military system are being closely monitored by the US.

China disclosed that Zhang Youxia, a senior vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, and another official are under investigation for serious disciplinary violations. President Xi, known for his strong stance against corruption, has been actively pursuing anti-graft initiatives since assuming office.

On a different note, the US Ambassador in Beijing, David Perdue, conveyed positive developments in business relations between the US and China following their trade war truce last year. Perdue informed business leaders in Hong Kong about advancements in various agreements between the two largest economies globally.
