Elon Musk has confirmed the effectiveness of SpaceX’s actions to prevent Russia from unauthorized use of the Starlink satellite internet service. Musk stated on X platform on February 1 that the measures taken to block Russia’s access to Starlink seemed to be successful. He expressed willingness to implement further actions if necessary without disclosing specific details of the interventions.
This statement came in response to concerns raised by Ukraine’s defense minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, regarding the alleged use of Starlink technology by Russian forces in the conflict in Ukraine. Fedorov mentioned that efforts were underway in collaboration with SpaceX to prevent Russian military from utilizing Starlink for drone navigation. Ukrainian officials reported finding Starlink equipment on drones used in Russian offensives, as per a recent Reuters report.
