Arifin Shuvoo and Mondera Chakroborty starred in the movie “NeelChokro,” which was initially released during Eid. Recently, concerns about piracy and unauthorized distribution were raised as the film resurfaced on YouTube under a different title.
Viewers exploring new Bengali films on YouTube stumbled upon a title called “Chakravyuh” with the thumbnail of “NeelChokro.” The movie was uploaded on February 6 and garnered over 40k views, leading to questions about the actors’ involvement in a project with that title.
The 1-hour-51-minute film underwent multiple changes for its YouTube release. Along with a new title, the dialogue was adjusted to a Kolkata-style dialect despite the story’s Bangladeshi roots. Certain scenes were edited, and the film received a re-color grading to present a fresh version suitable for online audiences.
Initial speculations arose regarding the digital rights of the film being sold. However, director Mithu Khan refuted such claims. In an interview with Prothom Alo, he stated that he was unaware of the film’s YouTube release and had not authorized the copyright sale to any channel. Upon reviewing the link, he expressed shock, mentioning that the film was uploaded without his or the producers’ consent.
The director clarified that there was no official digital copy intended for circulation. Nevertheless, post-production work was conducted in Kolkata, where a copy was shared for technical purposes. Mithu Khan suspects that someone involved in the process might have leaked the film online. He emphasized that the unauthorized upload resulted in financial losses, especially since the film had been recently released on the iScreen platform in the country. The production team is actively working to identify the responsible parties and have the film removed from YouTube.
“NeelChokro” delves into a disturbing plot involving the sudden online leakage of private videos featuring 16 young women, leading to tragic consequences with five of them resorting to suicide. The storyline follows an investigation into an organized group responsible for spreading the videos intentionally.
The movie also includes actors like Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shirin Alam, Khaleda Akhtar Kolpona, Shahed Ali, Tiger Robi, Monir Ahmed Shakil, and Priyontee Urbee, among others. Additionally, popular singer Balam makes his silver screen debut in this film.
