Bin Yamin Mollah, the candidate from Gono Odhikar Parishad for the Kurigram-1 (Nageshwari–Bhurungamari) constituency, has decided to step back from the election race today. He announced his support for Anwarul Islam from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, emphasizing that his decision is in the best interest of the people and their rights.

Speaking at a Jamaat rally held at the DM Academy Football Ground in Nageshwari upazila, Bin Yamin stated, “To prioritize the well-being of the public and uphold their rights, I am fully endorsing Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Anwarul Islam and withdrawing from the electoral contest. This action is both a moral obligation and a political necessity.”

The rally, chaired by Azizur Rahman Sarkar, the head of Jamaat-e-Islami Kurigram district unit, featured Anwarul Islam, the candidate for Kurigram-1, as the main speaker. The event also saw the presence of Abdul Matin Faruqi, the former chief of the district unit, as a special guest.

During the speeches, Jamaat leaders discussed the forthcoming national parliamentary election, presenting a roadmap for state governance, good governance, and the protection of fundamental rights. They encouraged voters to unite for the advancement of a fair society and to bring about change through the electoral process.

As the election draws near, they noted a heightened level of competitiveness and vibrancy in the political environment within the district.

According to the district election office, there are a total of 28 candidates vying for positions in the four parliamentary constituencies in Kurigram district, with six contenders currently competing for Kurigram-1.
