“UK PM Calls for Prince Andrew Testimony in Epstein Case”

Date:

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for former Prince Andrew to testify before a US congressional committee in light of recent disclosures concerning Andrew’s association with the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Newly released documents by the US justice department on Friday unveiled emails revealing Prince Charles’s brother’s continued communication with Epstein for over two years subsequent to Epstein’s conviction for child sex offenses.

The disclosed files contained images depicting Andrew in close proximity to an unidentified woman on the floor, with her face obscured in the redacted photos.

Following previous revelations linking Andrew to Epstein, the king revoked his brother’s prince title and expelled him from his residence at Windsor Castle in November.

Despite Epstein’s conviction in 2008, the former prince, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has denied any misconduct associated with Epstein and had previously refuted maintaining ties with the financier except for a 2010 trip to New York to terminate their relationship.

Andrew did not respond to a request for comment from Reuters, and Buckingham Palace declined to provide a statement.

Starmer, while en route to Japan post a visit to China, emphasized the necessity for the former prince to address US lawmakers and disclose his knowledge of Epstein to aid the victims.

Members of a US congressional committee investigating the Epstein case have heightened their demands for Andrew to clarify his involvement.

Epstein, who committed suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while facing sex trafficking charges, had been incarcerated in 2008 for soliciting sex from a minor.

The documents unveiled Andrew’s continued correspondence with Epstein after the conviction, encompassing discussions on potential business ventures and social gatherings.

In various emails, Epstein proposed connecting Andrew with women, even suggesting bringing three women to Buckingham Palace in one instance.
