Police discovered the body of a male individual in a cornfield situated in Tangrakhali village, Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah on Wednesday evening. The deceased, identified as 30-year-old Jasim Uddin from Daulatpur village, operated a tea stall adjacent to his residence and also engaged in agricultural work nearby.
According to Officer-in-Charge Golam Kibria Hasan of Harinakundu Police Station, the body exhibited visible injuries on the neck and various other body parts. Jasim’s cousin, Elias Hossain, informed The Daily Star that Jasim had left home in the morning to gather fodder for cattle but failed to return. Subsequently, family members discovered his body in a cornfield. Another cousin, Rafikul Islam, mentioned, “There are evident signs of injury, yet the identity of the perpetrator and the motive remain unknown.”
OC Golam Kibria stated, “Preliminarily, the incident appears to be a homicide.” The body has been transferred to the morgue at Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, he confirmed.
