Nagad Limited has transferred a sum of Tk 13.82 crore to the Bangladesh Post Office under a revenue-sharing deal, denoting the postal authority’s portion of profits from January 2024 to June 2025.
The Chief Financial Officer of Nagad Limited, Afzal Ahmed, presented the check to Kazi Asadul Islam, the Director General of the Department of Posts, at Dak Bhaban in Dhaka yesterday, as stated in a press release.
As per the agreement, Nagad covers all operational and technological investments, while the Department of Posts receives 51% of the revenue without any financial input. Nagad keeps the remaining 49%.
Since its establishment in 2019, Nagad has shared Tk 14.61 crore with the Post Office on various occasions.
Islam mentioned that the platform has stimulated competition in the industry, fostering cashless transactions and supporting the expansion of financial services.
He highlighted that the Post Office presently garners approximately Tk 13-14 crore annually, a figure expected to see a substantial increase in the future.
Md Motasem Billah, Nagad’s administrator, emphasized the platform’s role in promoting financial inclusion and backing government initiatives and digital transactions nationwide.
The gathering included SM Haroonur Rashid, Additional Director General of the Department of Posts; Md Nahim Uddin, Associate Administrator; and Md Samsul Islam, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of the MFS provider, alongside senior officials from both entities.
