AHM Shafiquzzaman Named President of CAB

AHM Shafiquzzaman, the former secretary of labour and employment, has been chosen as the president of the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) for a period of two years, spanning from 2026 to 2028.

This decision was made during the association’s yearly general meeting and central executive council election held at its main office in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, as per an official statement.

Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan has been appointed as the general secretary of the association.

The election process was overseen by Professor Anwarul Islam as the chief election commissioner, with Akbar Hossain and Mostaque Ahmed assisting him as election commissioners.

The newly formed central executive council includes Jamil Chowdhury as the senior vice-president, SM Najer Hossain as the vice-president, Masudur Rahman Rony as the joint secretary, Mohammad Shawkat Ali Khan as the treasurer, Md Abul Kalam Azad as the organising secretary, and Anwar Hossain Chowdhury as the publicity secretary.

Furthermore, Anwar Hossain, MA Kader Mandol, and Bahadur Sajeda Akhter have also been appointed to the 11-member committee.
