“Bangladesh Tests SpaceX’s Starlink Internet on Moving Trains”

Date:

Bangladesh has initiated testing of satellite-driven internet services aboard moving trains using Starlink, the satellite internet service offered by SpaceX, led by Elon Musk.

This pioneering effort has been kickstarted by Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) in partnership with Bangladesh Railway. The trial is currently underway on various intercity trains, enabling passengers to utilize onboard Wi-Fi facilitated by satellite technology.

As per a statement from BSCL, the trial commenced on March 13 and is initially implemented on three trains: Parjatak Express, Upaban Express, and Bonolota Express. Commuters on these trains can access the network by scanning a QR code provided within the train.

If the trial proves successful, satellite-based internet services may be gradually expanded to cater to other high-demand intercity routes.
