“Tech Giants Unveil Innovation at MWC 2026”

The 2026 edition of the Mobile World Congress kicked off in Barcelona on Monday, taking place from March 2 to March 5 at Fira Gran Via. Leading tech companies used the lead-up to the event to showcase a range of new smartphones, tablets, and laptops. They also presented innovative ideas featuring flexible displays, modular hardware, and on-device AI capabilities.

Lenovo made a strong entrance with a blend of available products and prototypes showcased at the event. Among the highlights was the Legion Go Fold, a gaming handheld concept with a flexible screen expanding to 11.6 inches and folding down to a 7.7-inch display. The device features detachable controllers and various mounting options for portrait or landscape orientation, along with a folio cover acting as a kickstand.

In addition, Lenovo unveiled the ThinkBook Modular AI PC concept, combining a clamshell laptop base with a movable secondary display and detachable keyboard. The company also demonstrated swappable I/O modules to customize ports based on user needs. Lenovo emphasized the flexibility of this modular design for adapting to different work environments and potentially extending device lifespan.

Alongside these concepts, Lenovo updated its consumer lineup with offerings such as the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 Aura Edition Gen 11, Yoga Pro 7a, and IdeaPad Slim 5i Ultra, featuring AI enhancements under Microsoft’s Copilot+ branding. The company also introduced products like the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 and Legion Tab Gen 5 gaming tablet, with the Legion 7a Gen 11 gaming laptop set for release in the coming months.

Lenovo also showcased desktop concepts focused on enhancing workplace productivity, including an AI Workmate prototype with integrated projector and a compact display for task organization.

Meanwhile, Honor made waves at the MWC with its innovative “Robot Phone,” equipped with a gimbal-mounted camera arm for stabilized filming. The device boasts a 200-megapixel main sensor and AI tracking capabilities. Honor also unveiled a humanoid robot and the Magic V6 foldable phone, emphasizing water resistance and compact design.

Honor expanded its tablet lineup with the MagicPad 4, featuring a slim profile and high-quality display, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 platform. The tablet offers spatial audio through an eight-speaker setup.

Xiaomi, in collaboration with Leica, focused on photography-centric hardware at the MWC, launching the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and the Leica-branded Leitzphone. These devices offer advanced camera features and physical controls, catering to photography enthusiasts.

Additionally, Xiaomi introduced the Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro tablets, a magnetic power bank, and the Xiaomi Tag Bluetooth tracker compatible with Apple’s Find My network or Google’s Find Hub.

Tecno presented a modular phone design at the event, highlighting its ultra-thin profile and magnetic attachments for hardware modules, although mass production plans remain unconfirmed.

The Mobile World Congress will continue until Thursday, with more product unveilings expected across various categories, including phones, laptops, and connected devices as attendees get hands-on experiences with the latest innovations.
