Bangladesh ODI Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz Confident Amid Off-Field Turmoil

Date:

Bangladesh’s One Day International (ODI) captain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, has affirmed that the team remains undeterred by recent off-field issues in the country’s cricket as they gear up for the upcoming series against New Zealand.

Despite administrative turmoil within Bangladesh cricket, Miraz assured that the players have stayed focused on their duties and are fully prepared for the upcoming matches. “We have had excellent training sessions, and as professional cricketers, external distractions do not affect us mentally. Our primary focus is on delivering strong performances,” stated Miraz during a press briefing in Mirpur ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand.

Miraz expressed contentment with the team’s training regimen, underscoring their unwavering concentration on cricket. “Our training in the past three weeks has been top-notch. We have maintained a laser focus on our preparations without being swayed by external factors,” he remarked.

In anticipation of the series against New Zealand and the subsequent matches against Pakistan, Bangladesh has conducted separate training camps for the white-ball and red-ball formats. The ODI series is set to commence tomorrow, with the initial two matches scheduled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur and the final game in Chattogram.

Furthermore, Miraz highlighted the appointment of former national captain Tamim Iqbal as the head of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) 11-member ad hoc committee. Having recently played alongside Tamim, Miraz believes that his firsthand experience will benefit the team. “Tamim comprehends our needs and preferences due to our shared playing background. His insights as a recent retiree are advantageous for us,” noted Miraz.

He mentioned that Tamim has already engaged with the players, providing motivation and words of encouragement. “Our interaction with the president was positive. He commended the team’s performance and urged us to maintain our current level of cricket,” Miraz shared.
