A man has accused Hi-Care General & Specialized Hospital in Dhaka’s Uttara of medical malpractice, stating that his wife is now in critical condition in the ICU due to receiving treatment based on another patient’s CT scan report. Md Manik Saodagar, 64, lodged a complaint with Uttara West Police Station, alleging negligence on the part of the hospital.
According to Manik, he brought his wife, Jahanara Begum, to the hospital on March 22 for a headache complaint. He claimed that the hospital mixed up her medical records with another patient’s, leading to inappropriate treatment that exacerbated her condition. When Jahanara’s health worsened, Manik requested her transfer to Uttara Adhunik Hospital but was allegedly required to pay Tk 1.20 lakh before the transfer was authorized.
Upon arrival at the new hospital, Jahanara was admitted to the ICU in critical condition.
However, the hospital’s general manager, Mir Omar Faruq, refuted the allegations, stating that the patient had received appropriate treatment based on her prescription and CT scan report. He suggested that attendants might have mistakenly or deliberately taken the wrong patient’s report.
