Renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel has commenced filming for his latest project, “Shojon Badiar Ghat”, inspired by the renowned poetic creation of Polli Kobi Jasimuddin. The shooting location is Satpar village in Gopalganj, where the production officially kicked off today.
The narrative of “Shojon Badiar Ghat” unfolds in Shimultoli village along the Madhumati River, where a harmonious coexistence between Muslim and Hindu communities is portrayed. Despite religious differences, a strong sense of camaraderie unites the villagers, forming a close-knit extended family.
Central to the plot are Shojon and Duli, two youngsters from contrasting religious backgrounds who share a deep bond as childhood friends. However, their relationship faces challenges leading to separation and heartache, exacerbated by conflicts within the village. Jasimuddin’s poetic masterpiece eloquently captures the essence of their story.
In the film adaptation, the character of Shojon is brought to life by Tanay Biswas, with Dihan portraying his younger self. The ensemble cast includes Radifa Narmine, Shreya Baidya, Chitralekha Guha, Kazi Raju, Amitabh Rajib, Zubayer Zahid, Ahsanul Haque Minu, Swapna Baidya, Shah Alam Dulal, and Rezaul Karim Reza, among others.
Kino-Eye Films, the director’s production company, has confirmed the active filming of the feature film based on Jasimuddin’s timeless poetry. The dedicated team, comprising the cinematographer, art director, and assistant directors, is diligently recreating the rural Bengal setting to vividly depict a moving narrative of love, tragedy, and human connections on screen.
