The Dhaka Premier League (DPL) is scheduled to kick off on May 4 after a period of uncertainty. During the trophy unveiling event at the BCB Academy Ground in Mirpur, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ad hoc committee president Tamim Iqbal emphasized the significance of the tournament in Bangladesh cricket.
Tamim highlighted the challenges faced by the committee, stating that the DPL holds great importance in the country’s cricket ecosystem. He acknowledged the difficulties in organizing the tournament due to the prolonged period of inactivity in cricket. Tamim expressed gratitude towards the clubs for their support in reviving the Premier League.
Speaking about the logistical difficulties of traveling to matches at various venues, Tamim mentioned that utilizing venues like BKSP 2, Cricketers Academy Ground, Bashundhara Sports City Complex, and ULAB Ground would enhance the facilities.
Addressing the medical protocols for the upcoming season, Tamim referred to the importance of ensuring player safety. He recalled past incidents and emphasized the need for proper medical facilities, including ambulances and ICU services at all grounds to handle emergencies effectively.
Furthermore, Tamim announced the reintroduction of Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) rules in the DPL, aligning with the regulations followed in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He emphasized the seriousness of enforcing these measures to maintain integrity in the tournament and emphasized adherence to international cricket protocols.
Taskin Ahmed from Mohammedan expressed the significance of the Premier League for players across the cricket community, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the tournament’s return after a period of uncertainty.

– The 12-team DPL, sponsored by Walton and powered by Bashundhara Cement, will consist of 66 matches. The fixtures for the initial three rounds have been announced, with reserve days scheduled due to the rainy season.
– Matches will be hosted across six venues for the first time, including Pubergaon Shikkha Protisthan Ground 2, Cricketers Academy (300 Feet), BKSP Grounds 3 and 4, Bashundhara Sports City Complex, and ULAB, to ease travel logistics.
– Enhanced medical support with ambulances stationed at all venues and plans for ICU units at selected grounds, such as BKSP.
– The BCB will offer healthier lunch options, featuring a fitness-focused menu for all teams, replacing traditional heavy meals.
