A gathering for game developers in Dhaka attracted a full house over the weekend, showcasing the increasing interest in Bangladesh’s gaming and immersive technology sectors, according to event organizers.
The IGDA GameDev Summer Meetup 2026, organized by IGDA Bangladesh on May 2 at Rise Up Labs, brought together 60 students, independent developers, and industry professionals for a three-hour event filled with talks, panel discussions, game displays, and networking opportunities.
This meetup was hailed as the ‘largest gathering of game developers ever in Bangladesh’ by the organizers, Battery Low Interactive and sponsored by Rise Up Labs. The event aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing within Bangladesh’s burgeoning games industry.
Minhaz-Us-Salakeen Fahme, the founding president of IGDA Bangladesh and co-founder and CEO of Battery Low Interactive, expressed delight at the turnout, surpassing initial expectations. Fahme emphasized the enthusiasm and energy brought by the community, highlighting the growing passion within Bangladesh’s game development landscape.
The opening keynote was delivered by Ershadul Hoque, the founder of Rise Up Labs and a board member of IGDA Bangladesh, who reflected on the evolution of Bangladesh’s game development sector and the achievements of local studios, including collaborations with global giants like Disney.
A panel discussion followed, featuring Arif Mohammad, CEO of Technomagic Pvt Ltd; Meheraj Hassan Maruf, VP of IGDA Bangladesh and CEO of AttritoM7 Productions Ltd; and Niaz Murshed, secretary of IGDA Bangladesh and co-founder and CEO of Auleek. The panelists tackled the challenges encountered by local studios, strategies for sustainable growth, and the complexities of establishing game development companies in Bangladesh, while also addressing the current state of the country’s game development ecosystem.
The event also included a showcase segment where Bangladeshi developers presented their original games and showcased their technical expertise. Attendees engaged in open networking sessions, exchanging portfolios and exploring opportunities in interactive media, game development, and immersive technologies.
