In recent times, Raihan Rafi has become known for releasing a new film every Eid, generating significant anticipation for his upcoming projects.
This Eid ul-Fitr, Rafi is preparing to unveil his latest film titled “Pressure Cooker”, a production by Impress Telefilm and Kanon Films that deviates from the norm by focusing on four female protagonists rather than a traditional male lead. The cast includes Shobnom Bubly, Nazifa Tushi, Snigdha Chowdhury, and Mariay Shanto.
A one-and-a-half-minute sneak peek of the film was revealed recently, termed by the filmmaker as the film’s “First Whistle” instead of a typical teaser. The video, shared on social media, hinted at an imminent explosion of silent pressure, with the caption alluding to the brewing intensity within the storyline.
The teaser also showcased renowned actors like Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Misha Sawdagor, Azizul Hakim, and Saberi Alam alongside the female leads. Chanchal Chowdhury’s voice narrates lines from the famous poem “Moumachhi, Moumachhi”, adding a mysterious touch to the teaser’s ambiance.
The film had already stirred conversations upon the release of its poster last month, prominently featuring the four female leads and signaling a narrative centered around women.
Described by the director as an exploration of the urban pressures in Dhaka, “Pressure Cooker” delves into the societal conflicts and personal challenges encountered by the four women. Rafi emphasizes that Dhaka serves as a metaphorical pressure cooker for women, where unaddressed issues eventually reach a boiling point.
Following the buzz generated by the “First Whistle”, anticipation for the film has escalated as audiences eagerly await its premiere this Eid.
