Scotland’s comeback to the World Cup is being uniquely celebrated through the depiction of Scott McTominay’s remarkable goal on a special £20 banknote.
The Bank of Scotland has introduced a limited edition note showcasing McTominay’s sensational overhead kick during the 4-2 win against Denmark, securing Scotland’s spot in the upcoming finals, marking their first appearance since 1998.
Only 100 of these special notes have been created, with fans having the chance to obtain them through various charity activities in the upcoming weeks.
McTominay’s stunning goal at Hampden Park last November quickly became a part of Scottish football history as one of the national team’s most memorable moments. It now shares space on the new design with an image of the iconic Forth Rail Bridge.
Reacting to the honor, the Napoli midfielder expressed disbelief, stating, “Events like this are rare, so having the opportunity to feature such a remarkable goal on a banknote is quite surreal. I am incredibly proud.”
McTominay added, “I am eager to participate in the World Cup and demonstrate our capabilities, showcasing that Scotland is a strong team.”
Scotland is placed in Group C alongside Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil for the World Cup, scheduled to commence on June 11 in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
