“Ramadan Begins Tomorrow: New Crescent Moon Sighted”

The country will observe the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan starting tomorrow as the new crescent moon has been sighted this evening. The decision was made by the National Moon Sighting Committee during a meeting chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad at the conference room of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, according to sources at the Islamic Foundation. Ramadan is a period of fasting and abstinence for Muslims, who are required to fast from dawn to dusk throughout the lunar month, practicing restraint and austerity. Taraweeh prayers are set to commence from tonight.
