During the launch of the “Clean Dhaka, Green Dhaka” initiative in his constituency, encompassing the Mirpur and Kafrul areas, Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the significance of taking the oath as a member of the Constitution Reform Council as a mark of respect for the July uprising.
Reflecting on the impact of the July uprising on the current political landscape, he acknowledged the pivotal role it played in enabling the recent election that led to Tarique Rahman becoming prime minister and himself assuming the position of opposition leader. He emphasized that without the events of July, such opportunities would not have arisen.
Shafiqur Rahman stressed the need for formal recognition and tribute to the July uprising, urging the implementation of reform proposals emerging from the aspirations of the movement as a crucial duty of parliament.
