“Razzie Awards Crown ‘War of the Worlds’ as Worst Film of 2025”

Date:

The Golden Raspberry Awards have crowned the 2025 rendition of “War of the Worlds”, featuring Ice Cube, as the most disappointing film of the year. This year’s Razzie Awards were dominated by the movie, securing five out of six nominations. The film claimed the undesirable titles of worst picture, with Ice Cube snagging the worst actor award. Additionally, the film scooped up accolades for worst director (Rich Lee), worst screenplay (Kenny Golde and Marc Hyman), and worst prequel, remake, rip-off, or sequel.

Critics of the Razzie Awards dubbed the movie a “cult hate-watch classic,” highlighting its swift rise among poorly received productions. Loosely inspired by H.G. Wells’ novel, the remake faced backlash for its script, direction, and performances.

A comical moment arose with “Snow White”, where the “seven artificial dwarfs” collectively bagged two Razzie awards. Organizers teased that the lavish remake might have disregarded Walt Disney’s wishes, as reports suggest he opposed revamping the classic.

In the realm of individual acting awards, Rebel Wilson clinched a Razzie for her portrayal in “Bride Hard”, while Scarlet Rose Stallone was lauded for her role in the western “Gunslingers”.

On a brighter note, Kate Hudson was bestowed with the Razzie Redeemer Award for her stellar performance in “Song Sung Blue”. This honor celebrates artists who bounce back from previous Razzie criticism with an outstanding display. Hudson, previously targeted by the Razzies for movies like “Music”, “Mother’s Day”, and “My Best Friend’s Girl”, is also an Oscar nominee this year for the same role.

The Razzie Awards involve over 1,200 members from the United States and more than two dozen countries in voting for the year’s worst film achievements.
