A court in Dhaka has acquitted cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana in a case involving accusations of adultery and fraud. The verdict was announced by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam in the presence of the couple and multiple witnesses who testified during the trial.
The case, initiated on February 24, 2021, by Md Rakib Hasan, Tamima’s former spouse, alleged that Tamima had married Nasir without obtaining a divorce. The investigation conducted by Sheikh Md Mizanur Rahman, an inspector with the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), concluded with a report submitted to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka on September 30 of the same year, implicating Nasir, Tamima, and Tamima’s mother, Sumi Akter.
Charges were officially brought against Nasir and Tamima on February 9, 2022. However, Sumi was absolved from the case as the court did not find sufficient evidence to implicate her.
