Mostafizur Noor Imran, known for his exceptional acting in various projects like “Mohanagar,” “Kaiser,” and “Gulmohor,” is now venturing into directing with the upcoming Chorki original film “Djinner Bachcha.”
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Star, Imran shared insights into his transition from actor to director, the challenges of his directorial debut, and what viewers can anticipate from this highly awaited film.
The cast includes Mousumi Hamid and Azad Abul Kalam in pivotal roles, supported by Sarker Raunak Ripon, Anowarul Haque, Adrijeet Mondol, Ribon Khandaker, Rajib Hossain, and Shakkhar Kundu Dip. The storyline and screenplay were crafted by Shakkhar and Rajib, respectively.
“Djinner Bachcha” explores the story of a voiceless mother longing for motherhood until a jinn’s child enters her life, posing the intriguing question of why a jinn’s child appears in a human household.
Imran expressed that the concept of “Djinner Bachcha” had been brewing in his mind for a while, aiming to kickstart a Jinn-Human universe with this project.
He emphasized his interest in mythical horror and stated that the core message of the film revolves around universal themes like motherhood. Imran acknowledged the challenges of balancing horror and realism in storytelling to avoid unintentional comedy.
The director highlighted the importance of portraying strong female characters, casting Mousumi Hamid based on her talent and suitability for the role. He emphasized the need for diverse narratives that showcase women beyond traditional stereotypes.
Imran’s vision includes expanding the jinn-human universe through future projects, potentially involving associate directors to enhance storytelling and team collaboration.
Scheduled for release on February 19th, the film is a Methodica Creation production in collaboration with Master Communications, promising an engaging and thought-provoking cinematic experience.
