Amazon is said to be working on a new platform where publishers can offer their content for sale to companies involved in developing artificial intelligence products, as per a recent report by The Information. The report, based on sources familiar with the discussions, reveals that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has presented slides mentioning the upcoming marketplace in anticipation of an upcoming company conference. These slides reportedly placed the planned marketplace alongside core AWS AI tools such as Bedrock and QuickSight.
This move comes at a time when publishers and AI companies are in talks about fees related to utilizing online content to train AI models, with publishers advocating for payment structures based on usage. Although an Amazon spokesperson declined to comment on this specific development, mentioning that the company has no specific details to disclose, they emphasized Amazon’s commitment to ongoing innovation in collaboration with their publishing partners.
The rumored initiative by Amazon follows a recent announcement by Microsoft last week, where they disclosed their own plans to establish a Publisher Content Marketplace tailored for AI licensing, according to reports by Reuters.
