Bangladeshi Actor Accuses Creators of Deception

Date:

Bangladeshi actor Shipan Mitra has accused the creators of a project he was involved in of deceit, claiming that footage he shot for YouTube was unexpectedly released in theaters without his permission. Mitra had shot a series for YouTube three years ago but was surprised to learn that it would be screened in cinemas on Valentine’s Day during the national election period, leaving him feeling betrayed.

During the filming, Mitra was balancing his work on YouTube with his acting career when he was approached to work on a comedy-romance project for the platform. He completed shooting in just five days but heard no updates until recently when he found out about the theatrical release. Feeling deceived, Mitra expressed his disappointment, stating that he was misled about the nature of the production which was initially presented to him as a drama for YouTube but transformed into a full-fledged film titled “Barishailla Pori” shown in ten cinema halls.

In response to Mitra’s claims, director Salman Jasim defended the project, highlighting the cinematic elements such as songs and action sequences present in the film. Refuting the allegations of deception, Jasim emphasized that the project was intended to be a film and not just a drama, implying that the transition was justified. Despite the release, Mitra has chosen not to partake in any promotional activities for the film.
