Bangladeshi actress Tahmina Sultana Mou, who has been active in the television and film industry since 1999, is currently prioritizing roles that are rich in depth and significance over quantity. With a vast portfolio that includes numerous one-hour plays, telefilms, and serials, along with appearances on stage and in commercials, Mou is currently engaged in shooting multiple Eid dramas. Two projects have already been completed, and she is gearing up for a third one.
In the Eid drama titled “Happy Divorce,” directed by Topu Khan, Mou portrays one of the two sisters alongside Keya Payel. She lauded the director’s meticulous planning and the talented ensemble cast. Another recently finished project, “Mon Priya,” helmed by Mahidul Mahim, features Mou in a leading role alongside Jovan and singer Porshi. Mou expressed confidence in the drama’s engaging plot, which she believes will resonate with Eid audiences. A third production, under the direction of Muhammad Mostofa Kamal Raj, is slated to commence filming shortly.
Despite her extensive involvement in serial dramas, Mou has decided to step back from prolonged projects. She expressed concerns about the intense shooting schedules that often require filming multiple days’ worth of scenes in a single day, leading to stress and hindering character development. Mou emphasized that in serials, characters can sometimes lose their essence amidst the rush, and storylines may drag on without proper resolutions. However, she mentioned her willingness to return to serials if offered well-crafted roles.
Mou also pointed out the increasing popularity of family dramas on Bangladeshi television as a favorable development. She noted that these dramas provide opportunities for larger casts to collaborate and offer audiences a diverse range of performances.
Reflecting on her career trajectory, Mou highlighted “Gulshan Avenue” and “Sonar Pakhi Rupar Pakhi” as pivotal projects. Her portrayal of Setara Begum in “Sonar Pakhi Rupar Pakhi” remains memorable, while “Gulshan Avenue” is acknowledged as a significant milestone in her professional journey. Looking ahead, Mou expressed her readiness to tackle various character roles, including police officers, lawyers, or other diverse personas, as long as they offer substantial depth and meaningful engagement.
