Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Member of Parliament Sayed Uddin Ahmad Hanzala has called for the implementation of a law in the parliament that would establish the death penalty for individuals who insult or show disrespect towards Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
In a session at the Jatiya Sangsad, Hanzala also proposed legislation that would classify those who do not acknowledge Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the final prophet as “non-Muslims”.
During discussions on the president’s speech in parliament, the MP representing Madaripur-1 constituency emphasized the importance of representing the views of the approximately 30-40 lakh ulemas in the country within the national parliament.
Hanzala stressed the significance of his belief in Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the final prophet according to the Quran, highlighting the fundamental role this belief plays in his faith.
He expressed concern over a segment of the population in Bangladesh that denies the status of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) while identifying as Muslims, leading to conflicts and casualties in the community. Hanzala urged the prime minister to take a historic step in addressing this issue, suggesting that those who reject the status of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) should not be considered Muslims if recognized through legislative action.
