Despite their previous dominance over Scotland and the Netherlands, with a flawless record in white-ball formats, Bangladesh’s winning streak came to an abrupt halt with back-to-back defeats within a day.
The team’s struggle to post imposing totals and chase down 150-plus scores has been a persistent issue. In the recent matches, they could only manage 133/5 against Scotland and fell short by eight runs in a 163-run chase.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty showcased her skills with notable scores, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to deliver, while the bowlers are still adjusting to the playing conditions.
Although batting coach Nasiruddin Faruque emphasized the need for better starts in the powerplay and adapting to the swing conditions, he acknowledged the defeats as valuable learning experiences.
Faruque highlighted the impact of strong winds and low temperatures at the Grange Cricket Club Ground, emphasizing the importance of mastering the death overs and powerplay phases.
As they prepare to face Scotland and the Netherlands once more before the World Cup opener, Bangladesh is aware of the urgency to address their weaknesses with limited time left before the tournament kicks off on June 14.
