Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Maj Gen Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqi urged BGB personnel to maintain a high level of professionalism to ensure a peaceful voting environment in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election. He emphasized the importance of being alert to prevent any violence or sabotage before, during, and after the elections.
The BGB director general conveyed these instructions during his visits to BGB election base camps at the Mymensingh Sector Headquarters, Jhenaigati in Sherpur, and Chhagalnaiya in Feni. He engaged in discussions with officers, junior officers, and soldiers from various ranks at the Mymensingh Sector Headquarters and the co-located Mymensingh Battalion (39 BGB) through video teleconference, which included officials from different regions, sectors, and battalions nationwide.
Furthermore, Maj Gen Siddiqi participated in meetings with local authorities and law enforcement representatives in Jhenaigati and Feni to assess the overall law and order situation related to the upcoming election. The discussions involved Sherpur’s deputy commissioner, superintendent of police, and other law enforcement agencies.
A meeting was held at the deputy commissioner’s office in Feni, attended by Maj Gen Md Nazim-ud-Doula, GOC of the 33 Infantry Division, Cumilla, staff officers, senior BGB officials, regional and sector commanders, as well as local civil administration and law enforcement representatives. The gathering included officials from Rab, Ansar, Upazila nirbahi officers, and officers-in-charge of various police stations.
Following these engagements, the BGB director general visited the BGB election base camp in Chhagalnaiya, Feni, where he interacted with deployed BGB members. The visit included the presence of senior officials from BGB Headquarters and relevant region, sector, and battalion commanders.
