“Bollywood Star Rajpal Yadav Surrenders Over ₹9 Crore Loan Dispute”

Date:

Bollywood star Rajpal Yadav, renowned for his comedic performances, has once again faced legal woes by turning himself in to authorities over a longstanding financial dispute involving a multi-crore loan. The issue dates back to 2010 when Yadav borrowed ₹5 crore from Murli Projects Pvt Ltd in Delhi to fund his directorial project “Ata Pata Laapata” in 2012. The movie’s lackluster box office performance made it challenging for Yadav to repay the loan, leading to legal actions.

In April 2018, a magisterial court found Yadav and his wife, Radha, guilty under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act for cheque dishonor in financial transactions. Despite multiple appeals and legal processes, the dispute remained unresolved for over a decade. Recent events saw Yadav surrender in connection with the case, resulting in his confinement at Tihar Jail due to the outstanding dues, which have accumulated to around ₹9 crore including interest and penalties.

Known for his iconic roles in movies like “Hungama,” “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” and “Chup Chup Ke,” Yadav has not released a comprehensive public statement regarding the recent legal developments. Legal professionals emphasize that cases falling under the Negotiable Instruments Act may lead to imprisonment if the court-mandated payments are not made within the specified timeframe.
