“Carrick Named Permanent Manager of Manchester United Until 2028”

Date:

Manchester United has officially named Michael Carrick as their permanent manager until 2028, the club announced on Friday. This move comes as a recognition of Carrick’s successful leadership, with the team seeing significant improvement in less than half a season.

The 44-year-old former English midfielder has overseen 11 wins in 16 matches, including notable victories against top teams like Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea. This performance has propelled United to third place in the Premier League and secured a spot in the upcoming Champions League season.

Expressing his pride, Carrick stated, “From the moment I joined Manchester United 20 years ago, I have felt the special aura of this club. Leading our team fills me with immense pride.” He commended the players for demonstrating resilience, togetherness, and determination, qualities that are essential at the club.

Initially stepping in as an interim replacement for Ruben Amorim, Carrick has exceeded expectations and revitalized the atmosphere at Old Trafford, earning the support of the players for a permanent role. With a distinguished playing career at United, amassing 464 appearances and winning major titles, Carrick brings a wealth of experience to his managerial role.

Carrick’s previous managerial stint at Middlesbrough saw him achieve notable success, turning around the team’s fortunes and leading them to a strong finish in the Championship. While his tenure at Middlesbrough ended without promotion, his impact was recognized, leading to his appointment at United.

Manchester United, currently with 68 points, is set to finish third in the Premier League with a game remaining, concluding their season with a match against Brighton & Hove Albion. Jason Wilcox, the club’s director of football, praised Carrick for his positive results on the pitch and his alignment with the club’s values, emphasizing the strong bond he has formed with the players.

Wilcox highlighted Carrick’s role in guiding the team back to the Champions League and fostering a winning culture within the squad, reflecting the club’s ongoing commitment to success under Carrick’s leadership.
