Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has called on parliamentarians to refrain from using mobile phones and taking photographs inside the chamber during the current session. The issue arose following the conclusion of a speech by BNP MP Abdul Mannan from Brahmanbaria-5, after which Deputy Speaker Kayser Kamal invited Dhaka-7 MP Hamidur Rahman to participate in the discussion on the president’s speech.
During Hamidur’s speech, the deputy speaker highlighted the disturbance caused by MPs using mobile phones inside the chamber, affecting both speakers and listeners. In response, the chief whip emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum and requested members to step outside if they needed to use their phones.
Furthermore, the chief whip reiterated that photography is prohibited within the chamber and reminded MPs to follow the Rules of Procedure by moving around from the back when necessary. He assured that the speaker was also informed about the issue, emphasizing the need for all members to adhere to the established guidelines.
