Huarun Tex Co Ltd, a Chinese firm, has announced a $30 million investment to construct a textile production facility at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The press release revealed that the plant will cover a 36,000-square-meter area.
The facility is projected to yield 24,000 tonnes of yarn and 20 million meters of grey woven fabric annually upon commencement, generating employment opportunities for 580 Bangladeshi citizens. A land lease agreement between Bepza and Huarun Tex was formally executed on July 16 at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka.
Representing their respective organizations, Md Tanvir Hossain, member (investment promotion) of Bepza, and Bin Wang, managing director of Huarun Tex, signed the agreement. Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, executive chairman of Bepza, expressed gratitude to Huarun Tex for selecting Bangladesh and specifically the Bepza Economic Zone for their investment.
He emphasized Bepza’s dedication to furnishing a secure, contemporary, and conducive business environment for investors, pledging comprehensive assistance to ensure seamless operations for the company. The signing event was attended by senior Bepza officials such as Abdullah Al Mamun, member (engineering), and ANM Foyzul Haque, member (finance), accompanied by delegates from Huarun Tex.
