Windrose, a collaborative pirate survival game, is set to debut in early access on April 14 after garnering significant interest during recent public testing.
The early access phase of Windrose will be accessible on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Stove, priced at USD 29.99. The developers have mentioned on Steam that the game’s price will go up upon the full version release.
Crafted by Windrose Crew, this title blends open-world exploration, survival elements, and online co-op gameplay. Players can venture across the seas solo or with companions, overseeing a shared vessel and partaking in ship-to-ship battles and boarding skirmishes.
Within the early access version, the game boasts a meticulously designed world comprising over 90 handcrafted sites, such as dungeons, temples, and shipwrecks. Combat options encompass both ranged and melee weaponry, pitting players against rival crews, mythical beasts, and formidable bosses.
Besides combat, Windrose offers activities like farming, fishing, crafting, trading, and constructing bases. Players can enlist non-player characters (NPCs) to join their crew, while a reputation system monitors in-game choices and progress.
With over 1.5 million wishlists on Steam, Windrose has garnered substantial anticipation. Windrose Crew anticipates the game to remain in early access for approximately 1.5 to 2.5 years, during which they plan to enrich the world with more biomes, ships, adversaries, gear, and potentially new gameplay mechanisms. The full gameplay experience is estimated to require 50 to 70 hours to complete.
