The ongoing crisis in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) seems to be resolving with the recent announcement by the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) regarding the upcoming players’ transfer dates.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revealed through a press release that the players’ transfer is scheduled to take place on April 18 and 19.
In addition, the BCB disclosed the names of the 12 teams participating in the 50-over competition. These teams include Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club Ltd, Gazi Group Cricketers, Legends of Rupganj, Gulshan Cricket Club, Agrani Bank Cricket Club, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Bashundhara Strikers (Dhanmondi Sports Club), Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club, Brothers Union Limited, City Club, and Dhaka Leopards.
There were initial uncertainties surrounding Legends of Rupganj’s involvement following comments made by their councilor Lutfar Rahman Badal to The Daily Star. However, Badal expressed a more positive outlook on Monday, stating, “We had initially formed a team but later released those players. After speaking with President Tamim Iqbal, we are considering participation based on his request.”
On the other hand, Brothers Union’s position on the matter remains unclear, with attempts to contact their officials yielding no response from the club.
The tentative commencement date for the league matches is set for May 4.
