The recently unveiled trailer of the movie “Domm,” featuring Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Puja Chery, has heightened audience excitement following the release of its poster and teaser. However, the producers have announced that the film will not debut in single-screen cinemas initially due to concerns about piracy, just two days before its scheduled release.
The announcement was made during a press conference in the capital city on Tuesday (March 17) following the trailer launch by one of the film’s producers, Shahriar Shakil.
Shakil expressed, “We have dedicated two and a half years to the making of this film. It is a family-centric production, evident from the trailer, and offers a unique viewing experience. I believe audiences will find it refreshing.”
Regarding the piracy issues, Shakil further explained, “While our previous films saw releases in both multiplexes and single-screen venues, our last film ‘Taandob’ was pirated on the sixth day of its release, resulting in substantial financial losses. ‘Domm’ marks our sixth film, with a significant budget. To avoid piracy risks and potential losses, we have decided to premiere the film exclusively in multiplexes during Eid. The plan is to expand to single-screen theaters after two to three weeks.”
Afran Nisho, Puja Chery, director Redoan Rony, and other cast and crew members attended the event.
Reflecting on the film, Afran Nisho shared, “Talking about ‘Domm’ always stirs up emotions within me. We painstakingly crafted the storyline to ensure its strength. The dedication poured into this film by everyone involved is remarkable. Audiences can expect a gratifying experience. This role and narrative are unlike any I have done before, and I aim to contribute more narrative-driven content to the industry.”
Puja Chery added, “This film will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact. Nisho bhai, who portrays my on-screen husband, provided tremendous support. His presence not only fostered a positive work environment but also helped elevate our performances.”
Director Redoan Rony remarked, “The true essence of ‘Domm’ will resonate with viewers upon watching the film. The narrative draws inspiration from a poignant experience I had during an Eid celebration, showcasing the mental fortitude of an individual. Every team member, including Nisho and Chanchal bhai, has dedicated immense effort. I believe the film has the potential to make a mark in the global film market.”
Jointly produced by SVF (Kolkata), Chorki, and Alpha-i, the movie also stars Abul Hayat, Dolly Zahur, and Zahid Hasan in pivotal roles. The screenplay was developed by Redoan Rony, Rabiyul Alam Robi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhor, and Md Saifullah Riyad.
