An elderly woman sustained burn wounds in an acid assault reportedly orchestrated by the harassers of her granddaughter in Natore during the early hours yesterday. The 70-year-old victim resides in Adarsha village of Gurudashpur upazila.
According to her family members, the victim’s college-going granddaughter had been enduring harassment and stalking for an extended period. The incident occurred around 2:00 am when the criminals hurled acid at the girl while she and her grandmother were heading towards the outhouse.
The girl’s mother recounted, “My daughter escaped the attack, but my mother suffered severe injuries.” Following the assault, the elderly woman was initially taken to Gurudashpur Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Natore General Hospital due to her deteriorating condition.
Natore District Civil Surgeon Muktadir Arefin paid a visit to the patient at noon, assuring her of receiving all necessary medical care.
