“Former NCP Leader Resigns from Women’s Initiative Committee”

Date:

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has established a 53-member central convening committee dedicated to its women’s initiative, known as Jatiya Nari Shakti. The announcement was made by the platform’s Member Secretary, Mahmuda Alam Mitu, through a press release issued recently.

According to the release, the committee received approval from NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossain. Monira Sharmin, NCP Joint Convener, has been appointed as the convener, with Saifun Bushra Mishma, Joint Member Secretary, designated as the senior joint convener. Mahmuda Alam Mitu will hold the position of member secretary within the committee.

However, a former party leader listed in the committee has declared her resignation from all party roles, citing surprise at her inclusion. Dyuti Aranya Chowdhury, a former Dhaka University student and previously a joint member secretary, stated that she had already decided to disengage from the party before this development.

Expressing her astonishment on social media, Dyuti mentioned, “I am taken aback to find my name on the Jatiya Nari Shakti central committee. I am not associated with this committee; I have officially resigned from all NCP positions and have submitted my resignation letter.”

Dyuti had previously held roles as NCP’s northern region organiser and a senior joint member secretary of its youth wing, Jatiya Jubo Shakti. When contacted, Mahmuda Mitu expressed unawareness of Dyuti’s departure from the party, mentioning, “We received her nomination from Jubo Shakti assuming they had communicated with her. Hence, we did not seek reconfirmation.”
