Iran’s military issued a statement today, warning that US forces would face attacks if they attempted to enter the Strait of Hormuz. This came after US President Donald Trump announced plans for Washington to provide escort services for ships navigating through the area.
Major General Ali Abdollahi of the Iranian military’s central command conveyed the message via state broadcaster IRIB, stating, “We caution that any foreign armed presence, particularly the aggressive US military, that seeks to approach or pass through the Strait of Hormuz will be met with targeting and retaliation.”
He emphasized the Iranian armed forces’ control over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that any passage through the area must be coordinated with them for safe transit.
