“Late Doku Goal Saves City’s Title Hopes”

Date:

Jeremy Doku’s last-minute goal secured Manchester City a 3-3 draw against Everton, but a second-half collapse has put Arsenal back in the driving seat for the Premier League title race.

Arsenal now only need to win their remaining three matches to clinch their first league title in 22 years, with City trailing by five points and a game in hand, facing a tough task to bounce back from their disappointing performance at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Despite a strong start with Doku’s opening goal in the first half, City’s errors in the second half were punished as Thierno Barry scored twice for Everton along with Jake O’Brien’s header.

Erling Haaland and a late strike from Doku salvaged a point for City, keeping their title hopes alive, according to Guardiola who praised his team’s resilience.

City’s fate is no longer in their hands, with Arsenal having the upper hand. Arsenal’s upcoming matches against West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace will be crucial in deciding the title race.

The pressure mounted on City after two Arsenal wins, with City’s first team lacking match practice due to rotations in the FA Cup semi-final. However, City dominated the first half against Everton, with Doku’s goal giving them the lead before halftime.

City had a scare when Michael Keane avoided a red card for a reckless tackle on Doku. City’s defensive lapses cost them dearly as Everton equalized through Barry and O’Brien, taking the lead with another goal from Barry.

City managed to pull one back through Haaland, but it was Doku’s late strike that dashed Everton’s hopes of a European spot while City’s title chances remain uncertain.
