LifeStraw, a well-known global water filtration brand recognized for its portable purification solutions, has broadened its footprint in Bangladesh by offering a variety of compact and high-capacity water filters suitable for households, institutions, and humanitarian environments.
One of their products, the Lifestraw Go, is a purifier integrated into a bottle for individual use. It features a membrane microfilter and a carbon filter that enhance taste by reducing chlorine and odors while eliminating harmful microorganisms and organic substances. The company emphasizes that a single microfilter can replace numerous disposable plastic bottles, presenting it as a sustainable alternative to bottled water consumption.
In addition to the portable bottle filter, for larger groups, LifeStraw highlights its Lifestraw Community system. This point-of-use purifier is designed to provide safe drinking water for up to 100 individuals daily. Targeted at schools, clinics, factories, and remote communities, the system is promoted as requiring minimal upkeep over multiple years of operation. Utilizing ultrafiltration technology, the device can effectively eliminate viruses, bacteria, parasites, and microplastics without electricity and without generating wastewater.
LifeStraw also offers higher-capacity systems like the Lifestraw Max and gravity-fed purifiers tailored for disaster relief, outdoor activities, and institutional use. These systems can connect to pressurized water sources or function independently, delivering high flow rates while preserving essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium.
The introduction of LifeStraw’s products in Bangladesh was made possible through a partnership with OMC Healthcare. This collaboration has made available various LifeStraw products in the Bangladeshi market, ranging from pocket-sized personal filters to bottle-based purifiers and larger community systems.
