Meta Introduces New Smart Glasses for Prescription Lenses

Date:

Meta unveiled two new smart glasses tailored for individuals needing prescription lenses on March 31. The products will hit optical retailers in the United States and selected global markets starting April 14, with prices kicking off at $499. The debut comprises the Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics (Gen 2), boasting a rectangular design in various sizes, and the Ray-Ban Meta Scriber (Gen 2), offering a more rounded style.

These glasses, crafted for prolonged use, feature adjustable elements like flexible hinges, swappable nose pads, and customizable temple tips to enhance comfort. Created in partnership with Ray-Ban, the fresh models aim to accommodate a broader spectrum of prescriptions, catering to individuals reliant on eyewear all day long.

In conjunction with the new releases, Meta is rolling out expanded color and lens options across its current smart eyewear range, including updates to Ray-Ban and Oakley frames.

Moreover, Meta is enhancing its smart glasses’ capabilities with novel artificial intelligence (AI) functions. Users will now be able to log meals via voice commands or images, with AI-driven insights to monitor nutrition trends over time.

Exciting features encompass hands-free message summaries on WhatsApp, permitting users to request group chat updates or retrieve specific details through voice prompts. Meta ensures that these interactions are processed on-device and safeguarded by end-to-end encryption.

A notable update introduces Meta’s “neural handwriting,” enabling users to compose messages by tracing letters with their finger on a surface. This functionality is tailored for discreet communication and will be compatible across various platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and standard messaging apps on mobile devices.
