Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam showcased stellar performances for Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2025-26, leading their team to a 237-run victory over Gulshan Cricket Club at BKSP-4. This win propelled Mohammedan to the top of the points table ahead of the Eid break.
Having recently excelled in Bangladesh’s Test series against Pakistan, Mushfiqur Rahim scored 72 runs off 62 balls, supported by Tawhid Hridoy with 86 runs and Afif Hossain with 55 runs, as Mohammedan set a target of 345 for nine in their 50 overs.
Taijul Islam’s exceptional bowling performance, taking 5-26, along with Tanvir Islam’s 4-37, restricted Gulshan to a mere 108 runs in 33.2 overs, securing Mohammedan’s sixth victory in seven matches.
Najmul Hossain Shanto also shone by scoring an unbeaten 108 off 90 balls for Abahani Limited, guiding his team to a nine-wicket win over Agrani Bank Cricket Club at the ULAB Cricket Ground. This victory landed Abahani in the second spot on the table with 10 points from seven matches.
In a surprising turn of events at BKSP, City Club defeated Prime Bank Cricket Club by 19 runs, ending Prime Bank’s five-match winning streak. Anamul Haque Anam’s unbeaten 103 off 97 balls propelled City Club to a total of 266 for seven, while Enamul Hoque Ashik’s 5-41 restricted Prime Bank to 247 for nine.
Other notable performances included Irfan Shukkur’s unbeaten 127 off 75 balls leading Legends of Rupganj to a seven-wicket victory over Gazi Group Cricketers, and Fazle Mahmud’s 132 off 113 balls securing a seven-run win for Bashundhara Strikers against Brothers Union. Md Abdullah’s unbeaten 100 off 128 balls was not enough as Dhaka Leopards triumphed over Rupganj Tigers Cricket Club by 30 runs at the Bashundhara Sports Complex.
