The National Citizen Party (NCP) has expressed strong disapproval of the assault on the motorcade of Noakhali-6 MP and NCP leader Abdul Hannan Masud in Hatia, Noakhali, today.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, NCP leader Nahid Islam accused supporters of the BNP and AL of perpetrating the attack.
According to Nahid, local BNP and Awami League members jointly targeted Hannan Masud while he was visiting the Prakasam Bazar area in Chanandi union. Numerous NCP members and supporters were reportedly harmed during the altercation.
“I vehemently denounce this brutal assault on a duly elected member of parliament,” stated the NCP convener.
Nahid also called for a thorough investigation into the incident, asserting that law enforcement officers at the site did not intervene.
“The inability to safeguard a sitting MP from criminal elements raises serious concerns about the state of law and order in the nation,” he emphasized.
