Newly elected parliament members affiliated with the Jamaat-led alliance, independent candidates, and Islami Andolan Bangladesh have sworn in at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this afternoon. The oath was administered by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin to those who won in the 13th Parliamentary Election held on February 12, with the first oath ceremony commencing at 12:20pm.
Reports indicate that Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman was consulted regarding two sentences of the oath during the ceremony. Notably, the six MPs from the National Citizen Party were absent from the room during the event.
Following the completion of signing formalities, a second oath ceremony took place at 12:26pm where the members pledged to uphold the Constitutional Reform Council. Independent MP Rumeen Farhana and BNP’s Ishraque Hossain were observed leaving the room during this part of the ceremony as shown in the televised broadcast.
This significant oath-taking event occurred amidst ongoing political deliberations surrounding participation in the Constitutional Reform Council within the parliament complex.
