“Newly Elected MPs Take Oaths at Jatiya Sangsad”

Date:

The newly elected Members of Parliament have begun arriving at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban this morning to take their oaths. The swearing-in ceremony is set to commence at the designated oath room within the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will be conducting the oath ceremony, a role typically fulfilled by the speaker.

Elected MPs were observed entering the parliament complex shortly after 9:00 am. Law enforcement personnel are on site performing their duties, and media representatives are present to cover the proceedings. Following the oath-taking, the BNP Parliamentary Party will convene a meeting to designate their parliamentary leader.

Delegates from more than a dozen countries are participating in the event. The Election Commission released the gazette for 297 out of 299 seats in the 13th national election on Friday night. President Mohammed Shahabuddin is scheduled to preside over the oath-taking ceremony for the new government at the parliament’s South Plaza at 4:00 pm today.

BNP has secured an absolute majority with 209 seats, marking a significant victory. Notably, Jamaat-e-Islami is poised to become the primary opposition party with 68 seats.
