“Newly Elected Officials to Honor Language Martyrs in Dhaka”

Newly elected officials representing the 11-party electoral coalition, which includes Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, are scheduled to honor the language martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka early on Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

The event will be overseen by the Parliament’s Leader of the Opposition and Jamaat Ameer Shafiqur Rahman.

As per a statement released by Jamaat’s central publicity department, “On February 21 at 12:01 am, in observance of International Mother Language Day and Martyrs’ Day, the esteemed Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, will partake in the official ceremony at the Central Shaheed Minar.”

“The newly elected parliamentarians from the 11-party coalition will be in attendance,” the statement confirmed.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony at the Shaheed Minar, the coalition MPs will pay their respects at the Azimpur Graveyard, offering prayers for the souls of the language martyrs as a gesture of remembrance, the press release concluded.
