“Nvidia Partners with Thinking Machines Lab for Gigawatt Computing”

Date:

Nvidia recently revealed a long-term strategic collaboration with Thinking Machines Lab, an emerging artificial intelligence startup established by former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati last year. The partnership aims to implement a minimum of one gigawatt of cutting-edge computing systems.

Under this agreement, Nvidia’s Vera Rubin platform will back Thinking Machines in their frontier model training and development of adaptable AI solutions. The rollout is anticipated to commence in the early months of the upcoming year. Additionally, the alliance encompasses joint initiatives to create training and operational systems tailored for Nvidia architectures while broadening the availability of AI models to businesses, research organizations, and the scientific community.

Furthermore, Nvidia has injected a substantial undisclosed sum into Thinking Machines Lab to bolster the company’s future expansion. Murati, who co-founded Thinking Machines following her departure from OpenAI, emphasized the pivotal role of Nvidia’s technology in underpinning their endeavors. According to a formal statement from Nvidia, the collaboration is geared towards enhancing the research and infrastructure essential for constructing AI systems that are interpretable, customizable, and cooperative.
