Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated nearly 200 separatist insurgents in Balochistan province in the southwestern region during a recent series of attacks, a security official confirmed. The total death toll now exceeds 250. The clashes between government forces and militants have persisted since the initial coordinated assaults. Incidents of violence are still being reported in specific districts, with attackers targeting banks, prisons, police facilities, and military compounds.
For many years, Pakistan has been confronting a separatist rebellion in Balochistan, marked by frequent armed assaults on security personnel, foreigners, and non-local residents in this resource-rich province that shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran. An undisclosed senior official informed AFP that 197 militants have been neutralized in the ongoing counter-terrorism operations. The official also disclosed that 36 civilians and 22 security forces members lost their lives during the synchronized attacks in the volatile region of Balochistan.
