Sukumar’s film “Pushpa 2: The Rule”, featuring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, premiered in Japan on January 16 this year titled “Pushpa Kunrin”, post its initial release in India in 2024. Both actors vigorously promoted the movie in Japan, and though it had a slow start, it gradually gained traction to become one of the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films in the country.
As per data from trade site Sacnilk, the movie garnered approximately ¥105 million (about ₹6.06 crore) in revenue within two weeks of its Japanese debut. This milestone placed it above Aamir Khan’s “Dhoom 3”, which had amassed ¥104.5 million, securing the 10th spot. Reports indicate that favorable word-of-mouth in cities like Tokyo and Osaka significantly contributed to its success. Despite this progress, the film still falls short of the top positions and is unlikely to clinch the number-one position.
